About - About Our Office
Organization Overview
Junior Achievement of Southern California was established locally in 1954 as a part of JA Worldwide™ which was founded nationally in 1919. JA Worldwide™ is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Student Impact
Junior Achievement will reach more than 90,000 kindergarten through twelfth-grade students this year.
Program Scope
JASoCal serves students from ten Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Kern, Kings, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, and Ventura.
Today, 25 experiential JA programs are offered to students during the school day.
Over 65% of JASoCal students in Los Angeles County are classified as low- to moderate income, and over 90% are from ethnic minority groups.
Volunteers
JASoCal’s over 8,000 annual volunteers come from a variety of sectors and situations. They include business people, college students, parents, and retirees. These dedicated individuals are the backbone of our organization’s ability to deliver our vital and relevant programs.
Funding
Average cost per student is $50 with over 70% of every dollar received going directly to program related services. JASoCal relies on funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fund its programs.
Leadership
Paul McGunnigle, CEO of Howard Building Corporation, is Chairman of JASoCal; Gary W. Hickman is the President and CEO of JASoCal.
